Why I Chose the Name “La Nuvola”

Maybe seem a easy choice and simple but believe me ,,, wasn’t Choosing a name for my pastry shop wasn’t easy. It may sound simple from the outside, but for me, it meant naming something very personal — a dream I’ve carried for years. I didn’t just want a pretty word; I wanted something that felt like me. Something that could hold my story, my values, my memories, and the love I put into every pastry I make.

I went back and forth so many times. I wanted the name to speak about Italy and France. I wanted it to feel elegant, soft, feminine, but also strong and full of character. I wanted it to reflect my passion for tradition and creativity, and also my personality.

And then… I thought of Nuvola. It’s the name of my sweet little barboncina dog — and also the Italian word for cloud. Some might think it’s strange to name a patisserie after a dog, but for me, it just made sense. She’s soft, comforting, joyful, and always close to my heart — just like the desserts I make.

The word nuvola also reminds me of the lightness I love in pastry — the delicate layers of a millefoglie, the softness of a perfect sponge, the airiness of a well-made mousse. That’s what I want my customers to feel: something light, sweet, and full of care. So I named my pastry shop La Nuvola – Patisserie by Ely , with the slogan : “Your Daily Escape to Italy & France”
because I believe everyone deserves a moment of beauty and flavour in their day, no matter where they are.

This name isn’t perfect — no name is. But it feels like home. It feels like me. And I can grow with it
